The Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KPKT) appreciates the role of media as a bridge to connect with the community through coverage related to local issues.
The Minister, Nga Kor Ming, stated that the media plays a critical role in conveying the concerns of the people to KPKT and its related agencies, including local authorities (PBT), for joint resolution.
He emphasized that the media is often referred to as the fourth pillar or “The Fourth Estate” after the legislature, executive, and judiciary in supporting a democratic nation. Nga Kor Ming expressed this view during his speech at the KPKT Media Excellence Awards (AKeMedia 2023) held on Friday at JW Marriot, Kuala Lumpur.
AKeMedia 2023 is an initiative by KPKT through the Corporate Communications Unit of KPKT to recognize and acknowledge the role and continuous support of media partners who have highlighted quality work related to KPKT’s main agenda. The award is the brainchild of YB KM and is being held for the first time this year.
