It’s a myth that you need a lot of money to start a business. In Malaysia, with just RM100 and the right idea, you can launch a profitable venture right from your home.

Whether you’re looking for a side hustle or a stepping stone to something bigger, these small beginnings can grow fast. With consistency, effort, and smart marketing, many of these businesses have the potential to earn you RM3,000 or more per month over time.

Here are 15 business ideas you can start today, no fancy office, no big capital, just RM100 and a willingness to begin

1. House Cleaning Services

If you’re detail-oriented and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, house cleaning is a low-cost service that’s always in demand. Urban households often seek help with weekly or seasonal deep cleaning.

How to start:
Buy basic cleaning supplies for under RM100. Promote your services through neighbourhood groups and local online marketplaces. You can charge per session and grow through referrals.

2. Bundle Clothes Reselling

The resale of pre-loved or thrifted fashion is a growing trend, especially among youth. You can buy bundle clothes in bulk and sell the best pieces individually for a good profit.

How to start:
Start with RM50 to RM100 for a starter bundle, or even use your own unused clothes. Sell them via online selling platforms, social media live sessions, or pop-up markets.

3. Cold Drink Stall

Malaysians love their iced drinks, and a roadside or home-based drink station can be surprisingly profitable with a high margin on each cup sold.

How to start:
Buy disposable cups, syrups, and a cooler. Set up in a strategic location near schools, offices, or even from your gate. Use social platforms to let the neighbourhood know.

4. Personal Errand Runner

Busy professionals and elderly folks often need help running errands. With just a motorbike or bicycle, you can offer personalised delivery and helper services around your area.

How to start:
No cost if you already have transport. Offer your services via local online groups or gig task apps. Keep a reusable bag and basic items with you to maximise trips.

5. Custom Gift Pack Business

Custom gifts never go out of style. If you have an eye for aesthetics, you can create small curated gift packs for birthdays, teachers’ day, weddings, and more.

How to start:
Spend RM100 on ribbons, wraps, and cute packaging items. Promote your packs through messaging groups and visual-based social platforms.

6. Home-Baked Cookies

If you enjoy baking, you can turn your kitchen into a mini bakery. Simple cookies, brownies, and festive treats always find buyers.

How to start:
Buy ingredients like flour, butter, and sugar with RM60. Bake small batches, take good photos, and sell through neighbourhood food pages or digital storefronts.

7. Social Media Manager for Small Brands

If you’re already spending time on social media, why not get paid for it? Many local businesses need help creating content, scheduling posts, and growing engagement.

How to start:
Use free tools for graphics and scheduling. Offer your services to small vendors in your area. Share your portfolio via networking platforms and approach businesses directly.

8. Mobile Car Wash

A mobile car wash lets you bring the service to the customer, and apartment dwellers especially love the convenience.

How to start:
With RM80, get car shampoo, a bucket, and microfiber cloths. Offer packages and promote in residential online groups.

9. Home Haircut Service

Many prefer a private haircut at home, especially women who wear hijab or parents of young children.

How to start:
Buy a RM50 hair-cutting kit. Offer affordable trims and promote via neighbourhood pages or messaging apps.

10. Canva Poster & Menu Design

Small businesses need visuals for menus, promotions, and social media, but can’t afford agencies. If you’re creative, this is an easy business to start.

How to start:
Use a free design tool to create templates. Offer simple packages and promote your services on freelance platforms or in vendor groups.

11. Affiliate Sales on TikTok or Social Media

You don’t need inventory to sell. By creating engaging content, you can earn commissions promoting trending products.

How to start:
Register as an affiliate seller through social commerce platforms. Pick popular items and create short, honest videos that link to the seller’s shop.

12. Basic Sewing and Alteration Services

Sewing may be a traditional skill, but it still brings income. Many people need minor fixes for uniforms, baju kurung, or pants.

How to start:
Spend RM50 on needles, thread, and basic tools. Offer services to families in your area and promote through community groups or local pages.

13. Product Reviewer on Social Platforms

People trust peer recommendations. You can become a nano-influencer by reviewing products you already use.

How to start:
Use your phone to record short, natural reviews. Tag local brands—they may send you freebies or pay you later. Build your following on short-video platforms.

14. Resume and Cover Letter Editing

Job seekers often need help crafting a strong first impression. If you write well, this is a great way to help others and earn money.

How to start:
Offer resume polishing services on career-focused platforms and freelance boards. Start with RM0 using free templates, and charge per edit.

15. Homegrown Plants for Sale

Indoor plants, herbs, and decorative greenery are growing in popularity among Malaysians, not just for cooking, but also for home aesthetics and air purification. From fragrant herbs like daun kesum and basil to easy-care plants like money plant, spider plant, or succulents, there’s always a demand for affordable, homegrown greenery.

How to start:
With RM50, you can get seeds, cuttings, or baby plants from gardening communities, along with soil and recycled containers. Start small by repotting them in used cups, jars, or small pots. Share photos and care tips in online plant groups, community marketplaces, or social platforms. Focus on presentation, people are more likely to buy plants that look healthy, pretty, and easy to care for.

How to Legally Register Your Business in Malaysia

Even if you’re starting small, it’s important to register your business with SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) to operate legally, open a business account, and access future grants. The easiest option is to register as a Sole Proprietor (Enterprise), which costs only RM30–RM60 per year. You’ll need your MyKad, a business name, and a local address. Registration can be done online or at any SSM office in about 30 minutes, and you’ll receive your certificate immediately.

Don’t forget to renew your license every year to stay compliant. And when the time comes to grow, whether you want to open a shop, hire staff, or scale regionally, you can always upgrade to a Sdn Bhd (Private Limited Company).

RM100: A Start to Something More

RM100 may not sound like much, but with the right mindset, it’s more than enough to get started. You don’t need a huge investment to begin, just one simple idea, a little creativity, and the courage to take the first step.

After all, many thriving businesses began with less than RM100, and yours could be next.
