The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) officially launched the pre-celebration of Hari Cuci Malaysia (HCM) 2025 at Pasar Seni today with Minister YB Nga Kor Ming officiating the event.

Hari Cuci Malaysia, held in conjunction with the United Nations’ World Clean Up Day on 20 September, is a national initiative to address waste pollution and raise public awareness about the importance of cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Building on Last Year’s Success

In 2024, KPKT organised the first-ever Hari Cuci Malaysia across 650 locations nationwide, including Pasar Seni. The programme recorded three Malaysia Book of Records achievements:
- Largest Simultaneous Nationwide Gotong-Royong with 58,007 participants,
- Heaviest Solid Waste Collected in a Day at 4,645.50 metric tonnes, and
- Longest Non-Stop Gotong-Royong Cleanup Programme, lasting 12 hours from 8am to 8pm.
Following this milestone, the Cabinet endorsed the last Saturday of September each year as Hari Cuci Malaysia, led by KPKT.
National Celebration of Hari Cuci Malaysia 2025

The 2025 national-level celebration will take place at Pantai Cahaya Negeri, Port Dickson, on 27 September 2025, with parallel activities held simultaneously across the country.
This year, KPKT is aiming to set two new national records:
- Largest Gotong-Royong Participation with 100,000 participants nationwide, and
- Most Used Cooking Oil Collected in One Day, targeting at least 3,000 kilograms.
The public can register via QR codes distributed by local authorities or through manual registration forms. Members of the public are also encouraged to donate used cooking oil at designated collection points. The oil will be recycled into renewable energy such as biodiesel, with each kilogram valued between RM2 and RM3.50 depending on quality and location.
A Whole-of-Nation Effort

This year’s programme adopts a “whole of nation” concept, involving ministries, government agencies, state and local authorities, schools and universities, housing bodies, private companies, NGOs, and the general public.
Strategic partners include PR1MA, SPNB, SWCorp, the Negeri Sembilan Government, and the Port Dickson Municipal Council. The initiative has also received strong support and sponsorship from organisations such as AEON, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Bank Muamalat, 99 Speedmart, Cypark, Fathopesenergy, Tzu Chi Malaysia, and many others.
Hari Cuci Malaysia: Beyond Cleanliness
The programme will feature a wide range of activities including community cleanups, aerobics, recycling campaigns, exhibitions, awareness campaigns, lucky draws, and other community initiatives.
Hari Cuci Malaysia serves not only as a platform for promoting cleanliness but also as a movement to strengthen volunteerism, foster unity, and reaffirm Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability and global efforts in combating waste pollution.
